Symposium Music in Healthcare 2021
Every year EMBRACE Nederland organizes a symposium around a theme connected to music and healthcare. This is open to professional staff and management form the care sector, government and other interested parties. Expert speakers present research and development in the realms of music and healthcare. The symposium forms a part of the CityProms Festival and occurs annually in the last week of June.
Due to the corona crisis, the planned symposium on June 23, 2020 has been postponed to 2021. Date and location will be announced later.
Innovative technology for people with serious multiple disabilities. One of the speakers at the 2021 symposium will be Tjerk Dijkstra, lecturer and researcher in Creative Technology at NHL-Stenden. He will present his findings on the development of new musical instruments for people with multiple disabilities.
Music is an important means of communication and interaction with one’s environment and is an essential part of everyday existence. The creation of a musical instrument that can be independently played by people with multiple disabilities can substantially improve their quality of life.
