About us

Origin

Embrace Nederland originated in the open-air music festival CityProms in Leeuwarden. This social branch of CityProms became CityProms Embrace in 2014. In 2016, that became the separate foundation of Embrace Nederland., which now runs all projects in the field of welfare, care and education.

An Inclusive Society

Music connects, brings people out of their isolation, moves, and gives confidence. In addition, music, and especially making music, is good for health, well-being and the capacity for empathy. We develop innovative and exemplary music projects with the aim of giving vulnerable people a better life. We use live music as an innovative engine for social change and an inclusive society.

Legacy

Our philosophy is that there should always be a legacy from our projects, which are always carried out in partnership with others. With tailor-made training courses for (care) staff, informal caregivers and volunteers, we provide tools to do more with music in daily (care) practice and social domain. In this way, we aim to integrate music into daily practice.

Vision and mission

Vision
Embrace Nederland wants to offer vulnerable people in healthcare and the social domain a better life. We believe that musicians, professional and amateur, with their musical skills, can also have another role in society in addition to performing on stage. We believe that more practical knowledge (just do it!) is needed to use music when dealing with vulnerable groups in society. We see music and music practice as a connecting factor in society and knowledge sharing as an innovative engine for social change.

Mission
In one sentence: more music in healthcare and the social domain. We do this by developing self-developed, tailor-made musical and knowledge promotion programs, both for our own musicians and for healthcare workers and employees in the social domain. We want to encourage policymakers in these sectors to embed these programs in their organizations. We apply the principles of positive health and work based on what has been proven to work.
